About the project

Background

Wood Street, E17 is a self-initiated documentary project focusing on one street in Walthamstow and the people who keep it going. Combining portraits and oral histories, the work traces the everyday labour, relationships and resilience behind independent shops as the street faced increasing pressure and change. The project culminated in two solo exhibitions and a self-published book.

Outcomes

  • Two solo exhibitions: Vestry House Museum, Walthamstow and Tapestry, Greek Street, London
  • Self-published book produced as a lasting project output (now sold out)
  • Public presentation centred local enterprise and community relationships within a changing high street
