About the project

Background

The project focused on the North Cambridge area and in particular the Arbury Estate, which was built from 1957. Working with both young people and those who were instrumental in forming the new community, the project explores the needs of a new community, how those needs are met and the impact on a new generation.

Outcomes

Commissioned by Kettle’s Yard, this project explored the development of the Arbury Estate in North Cambridge through photography, oral history and archival research. Working with residents and a local girls’ group, the project documented the lives, memories and changing character of a post-war housing estate.
