About the project

Art installation with framed photographs and a QR code on a wall.

Background

A long-term self-initiated portrait and oral history project documenting members of the British team who competed in the 1948 London Olympic Games. The project revisits a moment when athletes trained alongside full-time work in a city still recovering from war. Photographs printed by Raw Canvas.

Outcomes

The project developed over six years and resulted in a touring exhibition during the 2012 Olympics, alongside press coverage and later exhibition at Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool. It brought the stories of these athletes back into public view during the Games hosted in London.
